Ethical Corporation's Responsible Business Trends Report has some interesting revelations writes Nestle's chief sustainability officer Nelson Switzer. Some the key trends to emerge include:
- Despite recent political uncertainty (Brexit, Trump being elected president, political instability in the middle east etc.) and natural disasters, more organisations are keeping sustainability as a key goal for their business.
- Many organisations still find it difficult to measure the value and impact of their sustainability initiatives. For these organisations, Switzer recommends working out the companies overall goals and then figuring out how sustainability can help achieve these goals.
- Despite many organisations finding it hard to quantify their sustainability efforts, they still recognise the value in behaving sustainably.
- The siloed approach to sustainability is on its way out, with many organisations adopting a whole of business approach to sustainability.
